每年到逾越节，他父母就上耶路撒冷去。Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

左咡

当他十二岁的时候，他们按着节期的规矩上去。And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

左咡

守满了节期，他们回去，孩童的耶稣仍旧在耶路撒冷。他的父母并不知道。And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

以为他在同行的人中间，走了一天的路程，就在亲族和熟识的人中找他。But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

左咡

既找不着，就回耶路撒冷去找他。And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

左咡

过了三天，就遇见他在殿里，坐在教师中间，一面听，一面问。And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

左咡

凡听见他的，都希奇他的聪明，和他的应对。And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

左咡

他父母看见就很希奇。他母亲对他说，我儿，为什么向我们这样行呢。看哪，你父亲和我伤心来找你。And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

左咡

耶稣说，为什么找我呢。岂不知我应当以我父的事为念吗。（或作岂不知我应当在我父的家里吗）And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

左咡

他所说的这话，他们不明白。And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
