耶和华降临在西奈山顶上，耶和华召摩西上山顶，摩西就上去。

And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up

耶和华对摩西说，你下去嘱咐百姓，不可闯过来到我面前观看，恐怕他们有多人死亡，
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish

又叫亲近我的祭司自洁，恐怕我忽然出来击杀他们。
And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them

摩西对耶和华说，百姓不能上西奈山，因为你已经嘱咐我们说，要在山的四围定界限，叫山成圣。
And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it

耶和华对他说，下去吧，你要和亚伦一同上来，只是祭司和百姓不可闯过来上到我面前，恐怕我忽然出来击杀他们。

And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them

于是摩西下到百姓那里告诉他们。
So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them

神吩咐这一切的话说，

And God spake all these words, saying

我是耶和华你的神，曾将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来。
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage

除了我以外，你不可有别的神。
Thou shalt have no other gods before me

不可为自己雕刻偶像，也不可作什么形像彷佛上天，下地，和地底下，水中的百物。
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth
