左咡

现在斧子已经放在树根上，凡不结好果子的树，就砍下来，丢在火里。And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

左咡

我是用水给你们施洗，叫你们悔改。但那在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是给他提鞋，也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

他手里拿着簸箕，要扬净他的场，把麦子收在仓里，把糠用不灭的火烧尽了。Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

当下，耶稣从加利利来到约旦河，见了约翰，要受他的洗。Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

左咡

约翰想要拦住他，说，我当受你的洗，你反倒上我这里来吗。But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

左咡

耶稣回答说，你暂且许我。因为我们理当这样尽诸般的义。（或作礼）于是约翰许了他。And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

耶稣受了洗，随既从水里上来。天忽然为他开了，就看见神的灵，彷佛鸽子降下，落在他身上。And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

从天上有声音说，这是我的爱子，我所喜悦的。And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

[BR]当时，耶稣被圣灵引到旷野，受魔鬼的试探。Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

他禁食四十昼夜，后来就饿了。And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
