左咡

耶稣回答说，我也要问你们一句话。你们且告诉我。And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

约翰的洗礼，是从天上来的，是从人间来的呢。The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

左咡

他们彼此商议说，我们若说从天上来，他必说你们为什么不信他呢。And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

左咡

若说从人间来，百姓都要用石头打死我们。因为他们信约翰是先知。But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

左咡

于是回答说，不知道是从那里来的。And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

左咡

耶稣说，我也不告诉你们，我仗着什么权柄作这些事。And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

左咡

耶稣就设比喻，对百姓说，有人栽了一个葡萄园，租给园户，就往外国去住了许久。Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

左咡

到了时候，打发一个仆人到园户那里去，叫他们把园中当纳的果子交给他。园户竟打了他，叫他空手回去。And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

[BR]又打发一个仆人去。他们也打了他，并且凌辱他，叫他空手回去。And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

又打发第三个仆人去。他们也打伤了他，把他推出去了。And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.
