他对父亲说，我服事你这多年，从来没有违背过你的命。你并没有给我一只山羊羔，叫我和朋友，一同快乐。And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
但你这个儿子，和娼妓吞尽了你的产业，他一来了，你倒为他宰了肥牛犊。But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
只是你这个兄弟是死而复活，失而又得的，所以我们理当欢喜快乐。It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
耶稣又对门徒说，有一个财主的管家。别人向他主人告他浪费主人的财物。And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
主人叫他来，对他说，我听见你这事怎吗样呢。把你所经管的交待明白。因你不能再作我的管家。And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
那管家心里说，主人辞我，不用我再作管家，我将来作什么。锄地呢，无力。讨饭呢，怕羞。Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
