于是那些要拷问保罗的人,就离开他去了。千夫长继知道他是罗马人,又因为捆绑了他,也害怕了。Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
第二天,千夫长为要知道犹太人控告保罗的实情,便解开他,吩咐祭司长和全公会的人,都聚集,将保罗带下来,叫他站在他们面前。On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
[BR]保罗定睛看着公的人,说,弟兄们,我在神面前行事为人,都是凭着良心,直到今日。And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

保罗对他说,你这粉饰的墙。神要打你。你坐堂为的是按律法审问我,你竟违背律法,吩咐人打我吗。Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
保罗说,弟兄们,我不晓得他是大祭司。经上记着说,不可毁谤你百姓的官长。Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
保罗看出大众,一半是撒都该人,一半是法利赛人,就在公会中大声说,弟兄们,我是法利赛人,也是法利赛人的子孙。我现在受审问,是为盼望死人复活。But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
