左咡

耶稣说，你们律法师也有祸了。因为你们把难担的担子，放在人身上，自己一个指头却不肯动。And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

左咡

你们有祸了。因为你们修造先知的坟墓，那先知正是你们的祖宗所杀的。Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

左咡

可见你们的祖宗所作的事，你们又证明又喜欢。因为他们杀了先知，你们修造先知的坟墓。Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

左咡

所以神用智慧曾说，用智慧或作的智者我要差遣先知和使徒，到他们那里去。有的他们要杀害，有的他们要逼迫。Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

左咡

使创世以来，所流众先知血的罪，都要问在这世代的人身上。That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

左咡

凡不因我跌倒的，就有福了。And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

左咡

约翰所差来的人既走了，耶稣就对众人讲论约翰说，你们从前出去到旷野，是要看什么呢。要看风吹动的芦苇吗。And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

左咡

你们出去到底是要看什么。要看穿细软衣服的人吗。那穿华丽衣服宴乐度日的人，是在王宫里。But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.

左咡

你们出去究竟是要看什么。要看先知吗。我告诉你们，是的，他比先知大多了。But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

左咡

经上记着说，我要差遣我的使者在你前面，豫备道路。所说的就是这个人。This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
