左咡

耶稣这话是指着信他之人，要受圣灵说的，那时还没有赐下圣灵来，因为耶稣尚未得着荣耀。(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

左咡

众人听见这话，有的说，这真是那先知。Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

左咡

有的说，这是基督。但也有的说，基督岂是从加利利出来的吗。Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

左咡

经上岂不是说，基督是大卫的后裔，从大卫本乡伯利恒出来的吗。Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

左咡

于是众人因着耶稣起了分争。So there was a division among the people because of him.

左咡

其中有人要捉拿他。只是无人下手。And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

左咡

差役回到祭司长和法利赛人那里。他们对差役说，你们为什么没有带他来呢。Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

左咡

差役回答说，从来没有像他这样说话的。The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

左咡

法利赛人说，你们也受了迷惑吗。Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

左咡

官长或是法利赛人，岂有信他的呢。Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
