他们说，因为没有人雇我们。他说，你们也进葡萄园去。They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

到了晚上，园主对管事的说，叫工人都来，给他们工钱，从后来的起，到先来的为止。So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

约在酉初雇来的人来了，各人得了一钱银子。And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

及至那先雇的来了，他们以为必要多得。谁知也是各得一钱。But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

他们得了，就埋怨家主说，And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

我们整天劳苦受热，那后来的只做了一小时，你竟叫他们和我们一样吗。Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

[BR]家主回答其中的一人说，朋友，我不亏负你。你与我讲定的，不是一钱银子吗。But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

拿你的走吧。我给那后来的和给你一样，这是我愿意的。Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.

左咡

我的东西难道不可随我的意思用吗。因为我作好人，你就红了眼吗。Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

左咡

这样，那在后的将要在前，在前的将要在后了。（有古卷在此有因为被召的人多，选上的人少）So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
