左咡

凡作恶的便恨光，并不来就光，恐怕他的行为受责备。For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

左咡

但行真理的必来就光，要显明他所行的是靠神而行。But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

左咡

这事以后，耶稣和门徒到了犹太地，在那里居住施洗。After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

左咡

约翰在靠近撒冷的哀嫩也施洗，因为那里水多。众人都去受洗。And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

左咡

那时约翰还没有下在监里。For John was not yet cast into prison.

左咡

约翰的门徒，和一个犹太人辩论洁净的礼。Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.

左咡

就来见约翰说，拉比，从前同你在约旦河外，你所见证的那位，现在施洗，众人都往他那里去。And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

左咡

约翰说，若不是从天上赐的，人就不能得什么。John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

左咡

我曾说，我不是基督，是奉差遣在他前面的，你们可以给我作见证。Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him

左咡

娶新妇的，就是新郎。新郎的朋友站着听见新郎的声音就甚喜乐。故此我这喜乐满足了。He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
